The Semester 1 in-course assessment comprises a 3,000-word group written report addressing one of three questions relating to topics covered up to Week 7 of Semester 1.
â Assignment Requirements
A good answer to the assignment question will:
- đ Include all elements of a structured analysis (introduction, argument & analysis, conclusions)
- đ Include topic-relevant concepts, theory and evidence from the OB literature
- đ Provide a critical analysis of the topic/question
- đĄ Reach a reasoned answer to the question posed
- đ¤ Be written in the third person (avoiding ‘I’, ‘we’, or ‘you’)

Answer ONE question only. All questions carry equal marks.
- đ Drawing on supporting research evidence in the fields of organisation and job design, critically assess the argument that formal rationality produces the most efficient form of organisation.
- đŦ Critically discuss the significance of the Hawthorne Studies and any lasting influence they may have on how organisations are managed today.
- đĨ Drawing on relevant theories and concepts, outline the key characteristics of a cohesive work team and critically evaluate the benefit of team working to organisations.
